IOM helped to 139 migrants to return home in 2009

In 2009 139 migrants returned from Slovakia to their coutries of origin with the assistance of IOM International Organization for Migration. IOM arranged them an assisted voluntary return within the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme (AVRR), which has been carried out in Slovakia since 1998 based on an agreement between IOM and the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.

The AVRR Programme focuses on unsuccessful asylum seekers and migrants who reside in the country illegally. The IOM informs about the AVRR Programme on personal meetings at the IOM Office in Bratislava, Grösslingová Street 4, and in Košice, Poštová Street 1, through low-rate information helpline 0850 211 262, an e-mail returnhome@iom.int and during information meetings in facilities of the Bureau of the Border and Aliens Police of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic and the Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior.
