Contact us
Contact us on the helpline 0850 211 262, email returnhome@iom.int, or visit us in the IOM Office in Bratislava and Košice. We will provide you detailed information about the Programme and possibilities of IOM assistance with your return.
We will register you
IOM can register you into the Programme only if you have a decision on administrative expulsion from Slovakia issued by the Bureau of Border and Foreign Police. If you do not have a decision on administrative expulsion, IOM will issue you a confirmation of expressed interest in voluntary return, which you will submit at the competent Foreign Police Department. The Police will issue you the decision on administrative expulsion from Slovakia, based on which you will be registered into the Programme by IOM. WARNING: This point does not apply to asylum seekers or unsuccessful asylum seekers in Slovakia.
Each applicant for return must fill in the IOM registration form. IOM Office staff in Bratislava and Košice can help you complete it. If you cannot visit the IOM Office, IOM staff can meet you on an agreed place.
IOM informs the Bureau of Border and Foreign Police of the Police Force Presidium (BBFP) about your registration into the Programme. If the BBFP does not issue a negative decision, IOM will start preparing the return.
After registering into the Programme until the day of return (for two weeks max.), if needed, IOM can arrange your accommodation, food, clothing and basic healthcare essential for implementing the return. The extent of provided services is decided entirely by IOM.
We will arrange the travel document
If you do not have a valid travel document, we will help you arrange a substitute document at the consular office of your country. The time required to arrange the substitute travel document depends entirely on the consulate and your identity background documents which you submit together with the application. The time necessary for issuing the substitute travel document can usually be shortened, if you submit a photocopy of your original travel document together with the application. IOM does not have any influence on the consulate’s decision process regarding the documents’ issuance.
We will buy travel tickets
If you have a valid travel document, or after issuance of a substitute travel document, we will arrange your flight or travel tickets for the earliest possible date of your journey, according to the offer of the transportation companies.
We will help you during the travel
At the airport, we will help you with check-in, passport and security control. Before departure, an IOM employee will give you pocket money (a financial sum), travel document and flight ticket.
In case of need, IOM staff will also help you during transits at airports and arrange transport from the airport/station to your place of residence upon arrival.
We will also help you after returning home
After returning with IOM, you can apply for assistance with business, renovating your home, rent, education, healthcare etc., which IOM provides in form of cost coverage. IOM assesses each application individually and considering the situation in the country of origin. Upon return, you will be assisted by IOM staff in the country of your origin who speak your language.
WARNING
There is no legal entitlement to the Assisted Voluntary Returns and Reintegrations Programme services from Slovakia to the country of origin.
You can return through the IOM Assisted Voluntary Returns and Reintegrations Programme only once.
