Reintegration assistance to foreigners in 2008 and 2009

Migrants returning home with the IOM assistance could within the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme obtain assistance with reintegration in the country of origin in the form of services and goods reimbursement. The goal of this assistance is to increase the chances of a migrant to reintegrate into the society in the country of origin through activities which focus on doing business, qualification increase, social and legal counselling.

In 2009 IOM supported 10 migrants from Vietnam, Moldova, Georgia, Laos, Paraguay, Namibia and Turkey in the total amount of €17,807.43. Activities of these migrants include for instance delivery and selling of goods, opening of a restaurant, a bakery, car repair service, selling of fruits and transport of passengers.

One year ago the IOM provided the reintegration assistance in three cases in the amount of €6,000, specifically to Moldova.
