What is the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme?

The aim of the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme (hereinafter AVRR or the Programme) is to assist migrants who wish to return and reintegrate to their country of origin. The Programme offers migrants the possibility of a safe, humane and dignified return.

ASSISTANCE PROVIDED WITHIN THE PROGRAMME INCLUDES:

  • provision of information and counselling to applicants for voluntary return,
  • preparation of the travel plan and logistics related to the return,
  • assistance with issuing of emergency travel documents,
  • assistance at the airport when departing from Slovakia, assistance in transit countries,
  • assistance with the reintegration in country of origin.

The services provided in this Programme are offered to asylum seekers, unsuccessful asylum seekers and irregular migrants who consider return to a country of origin.

The AVRR Programme is based on the principle of voluntariness and on the principle of free decision of every individual. The migrant can decide to step out of the Programme and not to return at any point of the process.

Asssisted voluntary return is a humane way of returning to country of origin. It enables the migrant to prepare for the return, it minimizes stress situations and avoids the stigma associated with police deportation.
